Shame arises when one holds oneself to an ideal or standard of perfection, leading to a feeling of shame when a mistake is made. Accepting that mistakes happen can mitigate the impact of not being perfect. The feeling of shame stems from a narcissistic mindset, where one is overly focused on their own image and reputation, leading to a self-centered response to the situation.
