Young smart people shouldn't focus on investing and should instead focus on building something or working for someone who is building something. The road to optimize returns from a capital perspective is long and not a good way to build a career. VC roles are becoming oversaturated and less young people should apply. Operations teams in startups, particularly those involved in complex decision-making and problem-solving, may actually be better assessors of businesses than many VC partners and sub-partners.
