NOTE

The Lost Art of Apprenticeship and the Impact of Industrialization

The industrialization of society has led to the diminishing of apprenticeship as the primary way of learning a trade. Traditionally, apprentices would start from the ground up, doing all the necessary grunt work to master a skill. Nowadays, this process has shifted to universities and other institutions, where individuals are expected to enter the workforce at a certain skill level, without much hands-on training. This shift results in a lack of investment in training new employees. Additionally, the breakdown of the family structure has contributed to individuals having to self-develop skills that were traditionally taught at home.
