The Importance of the Outcome Rating Scale in Psychotherapy

The Joint Commission emphasizes the importance of using the Outcome Rating Scale (ORS) in outpatient therapy sessions. Providers should administer ORS at every session to adjust treatments based on the previous session's effectiveness. It is similar to adjusting insulin doses based on blood values. The SRS, or Session Rating Scale, should also be given at the end of each session to assess the client's satisfaction with the therapy.
