NOTE

John - Mixed Modal Condition Training

Training closer to failure offers the opportunity to practice the likely position for a 1RM test, incorporating neurological, skill, and psychological arousal components. However, it can lead to increased fatigue and specific muscular compensations. On the other hand, training further from failure provides more opportunity to generate muscle-specific compensations and reduce psychological fatigue. A balanced approach, such as mixed modal programming, incorporating both higher RPE sets and lower RPE work, is beneficial to challenge technique, gain skill practice, accumulate volume, and minimize the negative effects of excessive muscular contributions and compensations.
