Should I Stretch My Hips?

If someone has knee or hip paine, i'm looking at the thoracic spine first. Then i'm moving to lumbar hips, palvis region, even ankle and foot. So as a runner, like all these things are working together. It's so intuitive to say, oh, this area hurts. I'm going to stretch this area. And again, i feel lik with hip flexers os u going tot, stand up and bend to the side. And it feels like youre doing something. That's the fun part of tracing the origin of the why is this happening?
