Reacting vs Responding to Change | 2 vs 4 P’s
The concept focuses on how individuals respond to change, distinguishing between reactive and responsive modes. Reactions are fast, instinctive, and emotionally driven, often resulting in regret. On the other hand, responses are slower, deliberate, and discerning, providing a sense of satisfaction. The framework suggests that reacting follows the path of two P's - panic and pummel ahead, whereas responding involves four P's - pause, gather, process, make a plan, and then proceed, creating space between stimulus and response. This process allows individuals to align their actions with their values.
