NOTE

Potential Sentience of Trees and Forests

There is no clear way to prevent a large, ancient multicellular organism from developing a brain-like structure. However, due to the slow transmission of information in organisms lacking neurons, such as trees, any potential mental activities would occur at extremely slow timescales, making it challenging for us to observe. While trees exhibit behaviors like communication, decision-making, and immune responses to pests, the limitations of their potential sentience remain unknown. The possibility of trees being curious and capable of reasoning about the world cannot be instantly dismissed.
