The receptors in our eyes are primarily sensitive to a 480 nanometer blue light, specifically sky blue. This is due to the fact that blue light is the only color that penetrates ocean depths, making it the predominant color early life forms would have perceived during the day, as all other colors of the rainbow are absorbed by seawater.
