Taking painkillers regularly can negatively impact the gut microbiome. Proton-pump inhibitors and antibiotics are the two worst medications for the microbiome. Other painkillers are also not positive for the microbiome. Paracetamol doesn't work in some people because they lack the right microbes. At least 50% of all drugs interact with gut microbes, and we need more research to understand their effects. The variety of drugs we take can affect our microbiome, emphasizing the need for further investigation.
