Valuing intrinsic motivations means enjoying an activity for its inherent rewards, finding it rewarding and interesting in itself. On the other hand, extrinsic motivation entails doing something not out of enjoyment for the activity but for the external rewards it brings. It's seeking a reward that comes only after completion.
