Flax Seeds: A Cost-Effective Solution for Health

In a study involving randomized constipated diabetics, ground flax seeds not only alleviated constipation but also led to significant health benefits, including an 8-pound weight loss, a 25-point reduction in blood sugars, a drop in hemoglobin A1c, and a 17-point reduction in LDL cholesterol, all for a minimal cost of about 10 cents a day. Flax seeds outperformed psyllium, commonly sold as Metamucil, in terms of constipation relief, weight management, blood sugar levels, and cholesterol, while also being four times cheaper. Furthermore, when directly compared to the prescription laxative lactulose, flax seeds provided superior results.
