Over-regulating or under-regulating naps can lead to sleep inertia, as the body is pulled from a deeper sleep cycle, causing a feeling of stress and anxiety. A 20 to 25-minute nap is considered ideal, as it prevents entering a full sleep cycle. However, a 90-minute nap is beneficial for memory consolidation and feeling refreshed, especially for individuals with longer sleep induction times.
