Emotions are public and observable, feelings are private and subjective, and thoughts are also private and subjective. High performance is achieved by effectively stringing together high-performing thoughts, interpreting emotions in a facilitative way, and having strong command in the area one wants to excel. Worrying is a cognitive response, a looping thought process about the future, while nervousness is more of a physiological experience, marked by butterflies or a nauseous stomach. Although related, they are distinct.
