Vicious Cycles in Mental Disorders

Vicious cycles in mental disorders are control systems that escalate out of control, leading to a snowball effect of symptoms like anxiety, increased heart rate, shortness of breath, muscle tightness, and sweating. In the example of a panic attack, a well-meaning doctor's warning about possible serious conditions can inadvertently heighten anxiety, triggering a cycle of escalating symptoms. Simply informing patients about the cycle does not provide a quick solution.
