NOTE

The Environmental Impact of Animal Production on Grazing Land

Animals grown entirely on grazing land use 26% of the world's land area to produce only 1% of the world's protein. This is an extremely wasteful and profligate use of precious land, as it occupies space that could otherwise support wild ecosystems essential for the survival of many species and Earth's systems. Switching from feedlot beef to pasture-fed beef would require a 270% increase in the area devoted to keeping cattle in the United States, leading to massive environmental destruction. There's simply not enough planet to support the luxury of grass-fed beef and lamb consumption, as it maximizes the land footprint and contradicts the need to minimize our land footprint to take care of our one planet.
