NOTE

Haematocrit: Measurement, Normal Levels, and Diagnostic Significance

Hemoglobin and haematocrit are important measurements of red blood cells. Haematocrit is the volume of red blood cells compared to total blood volume, usually expressed as a percentage. It can be directly measured or calculated indirectly. The normal haematocrit level is 40-50% in men and 35-43% in women. Low haematocrit indicates anemia, while high levels can be seen in people overproducing red blood cells due to testosterone use, altitude, or lung diseases. High haematocrit levels may signal an underlying condition that needs further investigation.
