Start by figuring out what you have to say that people care about, rather than focusing on optimizing channels. Finding a message that you're the right person to say, that appeals to a lot of people, is the hard part. Once you have something people care about, then you can focus on reaching and optimizing channels. People invert this because internet marketing channel optimization is fun and seems tractable. But checklist productivity doesn't work. Everything is driven by having something to say that people care about, which is the hardest thing in the world. A good analogy is old fashioned television, where finding a show that people wanted to watch was the most important thing and worth billions.
