Hakim Ajit's sons made different choices during India's partition: one moved to Pakistan and established Hamdas laboratories, while the other stayed in India. The family later expanded their business to Bangladesh. Roo Afsa, a popular beverage, now accounts for over 50% of Hamdas India sales. In contrast, Dalda Ghee, a cheap alternative to cow's milk ghee, gained popularity in pre-independent India. Dutch company Dalda introduced Vana Spati Ghee, which eventually caught the attention of Unilever. They established Hindustan Vana Spati Manufacturing Company in India, buying the rights to manufacture and renaming it Dalda. The low-cost alternatives became highly successful.
