The Responsibility of Storytellers

There are two groups of people: the keepers of the story and the truth seekers. The story of George Washington's teeth serves as an example of people creating a counter narrative rather than sharing a difficult truth. When a video exposing this was screened for executives, one executive initially called it propaganda and demanded the storyteller be fired. However, upon being presented with evidence, he admitted there was truth to the story but still believed it should not be shared as it doesn't advance the narrative. This illustrates how some people take the responsibility of being keepers of the story, believing a certain narrative needs to be presented to protect identities and self-perceptions.
