Insights on Acute Responses to Exercise

Aerobic exercise shows the strongest and most consistent evidence of inducing acute responses, particularly at 60% of the O2 max and above. In contrast, there are more conflicting findings and less robust evidence for other types of exercise such as resistance training. While some evidence suggests resistance exercise can also lead to exercise-induced anorexia, the evidence is less robust due to fewer studies on its acute effects on appetite. Research shows that resistance exercise can acutely suppress appetite and acetylated ghrelin, a hormone that increases hunger levels.
