Gene Therapy Reverses Inherited Deafness in Children

A gene therapy has been developed to treat a specific type of inherited deafness in children. A girl named Yi in China received the treatment and experienced significant improvement, being able to hear out of the treated ear within a month. Despite having a cochlear implant in one ear, the gene therapy allowed her to hear more naturally, without the metallic sound associated with the implant.
