Anxiety is a common underlying issue in all three insecure attachment styles, manifesting differently in each. Dismissal avoidance individuals exhibit irritation due to a chronically dysregulated nervous system, while fearful avoidance struggle with fight, flight, freeze, or fawn modes. Anxious, preoccupied individuals experience anxiety and dysregulation primarily in relationship challenges but are more present and less fearful in other situations.
