Every Sunday evening, for about 10 minutes, at 8 p.m., I sit down and evaluate my schedule for the upcoming week. I make sure that my schedule reflects my values, which are the attributes of the person I aspire to be. I consider three important domains: self-care, relationships, and work. First, I prioritize self-care by including time for rest, reading, prayer, meditation, exercise, and even video games, according to my values. Then, I make sure to allocate time in my schedule for my relationships, like my significant other, kids, and friends, so that I don't neglect them. Finally, I recognize that work involves both reactive work (like responding to notifications and emails) and reflective work. I understand that reactive work is inevitable, but I also make sure to find time for reflective work where I can think and plan. By consciously designing my schedule based on my values, I can take care of myself, nurture my relationships, and be more productive in my work.
