Strength Training and Muscle Mass Correlation

Strength training programs can lead to muscle growth and increased strength, but the correlation between muscle mass gained and strength gained is not as strong as commonly believed. Improvement in strength and muscle size depends on the effectiveness of the training program and individual genetic response. When people stop training, strength decreases immediately, while muscle mass decreases at a slower rate, indicating an asymmetrical loss in muscle size and strength.
