NOTE

Simple way to determine your stress level

One simple way to determine your stress level is by using a carbon dioxide tolerance test. This test involves taking a few breaths and then doing a slow, controlled exhale until your lungs are empty. The time it takes for your exhale is called the carbon dioxide discard rate, and it can indicate how well you're controlling your diaphragm, managing carbon dioxide, and managing stress. If the discard rate is between zero and 20 seconds, your stress level is high. If it's between 20 and 40 seconds, it's moderate, and if it's longer than 40 seconds, it means you have good control over your carbon dioxide system. This test is not influenced by fitness or the individual, and the time may vary depending on factors like time of day or recent physical activity. Although it's not perfect, it can provide valuable information about your stress management when combined with other indicators like resting heart rate and heart rate variability.
