Balance Standards: Process Over Results
Striving for high performance can lead to burnout and self-criticism, highlighting the need to differentiate between encouraging internal voices and self-critical ones. It is essential to set standards not only for outcomes but predominantly for the processes that achieve those outcomes. Three key process standards emerge: First, bring sincerity and wholeheartedness to your efforts, ensuring you engage with what truly matters. Second, assess your reasonable efforts by reflecting on how you would evaluate the actions of others, acknowledging that even partial effort can be valid. Third, prioritize learning throughout your endeavors by being receptive to feedback and recognizing opportunities for growth. These process-driven standards can guide daily actions and life trajectories, promoting sustainability and fulfillment.
