Autophagy Induction, Spermidine-rich Foods, and Cooking Meat
Consuming spermidine-rich foods such as tempeh, mushrooms, peas, and wheat germs can induce autophagy. Coffee, particularly its chlorogenic acid, also increases autophagy, as does following recommendations to suppress mTOR by reducing animal protein intake. High dry heat cooking methods for meat produce aging toxins known as advanced glycation end products (AGEs), which could be avoided by steaming, boiling, or stewing meat instead.
