**How Uric Acid is the real fat switch in mitochondria **
The nickname of a certain enzyme is 'keto hexokinase.' This enzyme is unique because it causes a decrease in energy levels in the cell when fructose is consumed. Unlike other nutrients, which typically increase energy levels, fructose requires energy to be metabolized, leading to a drop in ATP, the cell's energy currency. This results in a series of biochemical reactions that eventually produce uric acid, which accumulates in the cell. When glucose is consumed, this energy depletion and uric acid formation do not occur. Instead, the uric acid produced by fructose consumption serves a purpose.
