Research suggests that drinking water with a meal does not lead to eating less or aid in weight loss. It does not trick the body into feeling full because water gets absorbed quickly while food takes hours to digest. Two glasses of water can leave the stomach within 20 minutes, whereas solid food may take several hours to pass. Thus, drinking water is not an effective weight loss solution.
