Maximizing vs. Satisficing in Decision-Making
There are two outlooks on success: maximizing and satisficing. Maximizers seek the very best in every decision, requiring a lot of time and energy to find and produce the best. Satisficers, on the other hand, seek options that are good enough and move on with their lives once they find one. Some individuals may apply different approaches for different aspects of their lives, such as maximizing in important decisions but satisficing in less crucial ones. Research suggests that satisficers tend to be happier, as chronic maximizing can lead to being stuck on unimportant things. The key is to know when to maximize and when to satisfice, as chronic maximizing can be paralyzing.
