Coaching for Leaders

NOTE

Focus on identifying the real problem, not just generating ideas

The key insight is to focus on identifying the real challenge rather than simply generating ideas. The power of asking 'What's the real challenge here for you?' lies in slowing down assumptions and getting to the core of the issue. Being known as the person who can identify the real problem is more valuable than being someone full of ideas, as ideas are abundant and not as significant. By shifting the focus to understanding the real problem, one becomes a strategic thinker and adds value in any context. Avoiding questions starting with 'why' is crucial because it shifts the focus from solving the problem to giving advice, which is not akin to being coached. There is a time for giving advice, but true coaching involves delving into the root of the problem.
