NOTE

The Trap of Being Pushed by Technology and Industry

The underlying technological forces of production hardware continue to change, leading us into an info biotech economy for which we do not fully understand the structure. We are moving away from the age of mass production and have already seen revolutions in communication. The emergence of new professions, such as podcasters, has powerful implications for how we organize ourselves and the economy. However, there is uncertainty about the specific form these changes will take. There is a concern that we may start to exist solely to justify the technologies and industries we've built, leading to a scenario where human beings are no longer making decisions about how to organize themselves but are being pushed through history by inherited systems and incentive structures. This potential trap seems difficult to transcend.
