Understand Perception Through Multiple Lenses

Interoception, the awareness of internal bodily signals, is complex and multifaceted, particularly among neurodivergent individuals. People's responses to interoceptive questionnaires are influenced by various factors including education, reading level, personal experiences, and attentiveness to internal cues. Limitations arise in research due to differential interpretations of questions and variability in memory recall, which can skew data. While self-reported findings indicate significant interoceptive differences within neurodiverse populations, these are not consistently reflected in controlled experimental studies. This inconsistency highlights ongoing challenges in accurately measuring interoceptive abilities across diverse groups.
