Mentally eating a food feel so much like your actually doing it that you eat less chocolate in real life. People who imagined eating m and ms ate about half as many as people who imagined popping quarters. Merely imagining causes enough of the same cues and physiological signals that we can learn from a behavior we just saw inside our heads.
