Exploring the Effects of Solitude on Emotions

Research on solitude effects in lab studies for short periods showed changes in emotions. Solitude for 15 to 30 minutes resulted in a decrease in high arousal emotions like excitement and anger, while calm and relaxation emotions increased. Previous studies mostly focused on the decline in high-energy positive emotions, neglecting solitude's ability to also reduce strong negative emotions such as anxiety, stress, and anger.
