Journey to the Sunnyside

NOTE

Focus on what to do, not what not to do

Choosing to focus on positive actions such as selecting a mocktail, prioritizing sleep, practicing conscious communication, and nurturing great relationships leads to a more effortless and simpler life. Research in neuroscience shows that directing the brain towards what to do is more effective than focusing on what not to do. By telling the brain what specific actions to take, like choosing a healthy lifestyle or maintaining good relationships, it becomes easier for individuals to achieve their goals. Resisting negative behaviors may actually reinforce them, as the brain may not register negation (e.g., 'not going to drink' might be interpreted as 'going to drink'). Therefore, it is more effective to instruct the brain on desired behaviors rather than inhibiting unwanted ones.
