Maximum Intervention Is Having a Bigger Cost Than We Think
Parents who said their children didn't show great persistence were the same parents who interfered most in a puzzle task. The kids who experienced maximal intervention gave up far more quickly than the ones who got to try to figure out the puzzle on their own. Maximum intervention may be having a bigger psychological and motivational cost than we realize, Seligman says.
