In traditional workshops, the artist's work is discussed without their input. While it can be disempowering, it can also be a valuable learning tool. However, now students are encouraged to share their voices and intentions. Personally, the traditional workshop model was a gift for me. I teach a combination of traditional and empowering methods. I remind my students that having a group's attention and feedback is a gift that can make us better. It is the facilitator's responsibility to maintain a positive and constructive environment.
