NOTE

The Hormone-Disrupting Effects of Ultra Processed Foods Revealed

Ultra processed foods contain high concentrations of hormone disrupting chemicals such as thiolates, which are known to be detrimental to human health as they act as endocrine disruptors. A study conducted by researchers at John Hopkins School of Public Health found that a higher intake of ultra processed foods leads to increased levels of thiolates in the human body. The study revealed that for every 10% increase in the consumption of ultra processed foods, there was an 8% higher level of thiolate metabolites in the body. Children were found to have higher concentrations of these hormone disrupting chemicals than adults. Conversely, higher energy intake from minimally processed foods was associated with lower concentrations of thiolates and Bisphenols. Previous data collected by researchers at Harvard and Brown University also indicated a concerning link between thiolate exposure and pediatric health outcomes.
