Studies show that champion cyclists go faster when they're with others. This is because being around people releases latent energy in us. However, when we're trying to learn something new, having someone look over our shoulder can be overwhelming. On the other hand, if it's something we're good at, we excel even more when others are watching. Working out with someone also increases our likelihood of exercising.
