NOTE

Opposition to Partition and Political Pressure

During the committee stage before the general assembly debate on partition, significant pressure was exerted on various delegates. The Philippine delegate, General Romulo, initially planned to condemn the partition but was instructed to reverse his position by the president. Feeling slighted, Romulo resigned from the United Nations, but later withdrew it when he realized the pressure the president faced.
