NOTE

Exploring the Emphasis on Problem-Solving and Pivoting

The emphasis at LSM events is on problem-solving rather than fixating on a specific idea or solution. Trevor Owens, the founder of LSM, highlighted the concept of pivoting by citing examples like PayPal, Groupon, YouTube, Flickr, Twitter, and Instagram, which all started with different ideas before pivoting. These companies did not adhere to the Lean startup ideation principles taught at LSM. They built potential solutions first, some even raising VC money before pivoting. The traditional Lean startup approach of build, measure, learn was followed by these companies. Most technology companies begin with an idea that addresses a problem the founders are passionate about or have expertise in.
