Infrastructure and housing development present a challenge in balancing the collective good for society as a whole while respecting the rights of individuals. Political systems are meant to reconcile these conflicting issues and achieve the common good without disregarding individual rights. However, there is a need for stronger authority to override individual interests in certain cases for the larger social need, as the playing field may be tilted too much towards protecting individual interests.
