Over centuries, starting in the 1500s, British Parliament facilitated this transformation, leading peasants to urban areas and drastically altering the workforce landscape. Technological advancements in agriculture further diminished the need for farm labor, prompting landowners to abandon crop farming for more profitable sheep grazing, which required far less labor.
