You can have negative emotions, fears, or feelings, but it's important to break the pattern of those that don't support you. By experiencing new positive emotions and realizing that you can feel proud without the negative feelings, you can change the pattern. Once you've had this new experience for a while, your brain will resist going back to the negative emotions, seeing them as harmful. It's like refusing to be friends with someone who hurts you every day. You're not letting them down by choosing not to be hurt.
