Additionally, women bear a higher cost for reproduction due to pregnancy and caring for infants, making them more vulnerable sexually. Women also have the primary responsibility for infants, which makes them more threat-sensitive. Thus, women's nervous systems may be adapted for the mother-child dyad rather than their own emotional well-being.
