The challenge in building the product stemmed from overestimating the team's capacity and underestimating the total cost of ownership. The team needed to internalize the momentum of gaining customers and iteratively improving the product. The struggle with commitment arose from the allure of a broad, horizontal product, making it difficult to narrow down and focus on specific features. It required a shift in mindset to prioritize feeding the process rather than the product, and to recognize the value of customer satisfaction over the constraints of focusing on specific features.
