The Case Against Monogamy
Monogamy is not a natural state for humans as we are not designed to maintain sexual interest in one person for a long time. Our brains seek novelty and dislike predictability. Despite being a common social construct, choosing monogamy requires effort to keep the sexual spark alive. Long-term monogamy leads to a decrease in spontaneous desire and sexual excitement, which necessitates conscious efforts to maintain a satisfying sex life. Choosing monogamy does not guarantee perpetual sexual interest or negate the need to work on the relationship, and assuming otherwise can be detrimental.
