Uncertainty in Classifying Biological Entities

Confidence in classifying biological entities cannot be absolute as there is no principled way to answer questions for the biological world. Conventional categories are inadequate when faced with unconventional embodiments, such as alien beings or advanced artificial intelligences. Using binary categories like cognitive or non-cognitive to classify entities can be problematic, as even simple chemical systems can exhibit complex behavior. The traditional distinctions based on origin (factory or natural selection) are insufficient. The complexity and diversity of biological entities challenge our ability to categorize them accurately.
